Awakening The Other Side: Poems And Art Illustrations, with its distinctive poetry, provokes the mental faculties. It envelops readers and transports them to an emotional focus on the many stages of life. Ms. Hanna shares love, death, and the essence of the soul. With forty poems, which read like short, short stories, readers are carried to that special place where time seems to acquiesce and life levels off. If poetry can be described as lush and evocative, then I readily apply these adjectives. 'A Spiritual Connection' embodies how a glance into a soul mate's eyes can elevate above the physical. 'It's a Crime' reflects how two people, committed to others, most face the consequences after living love on the downside. 'Journey' walks readers through each step of a fruitless search by someone looking for love in all the wrong places. What elevated me was 'Unselfish Love', it made me look at how humanity needs to express true love much like a blind person approaches a beautiful sunrise; feel it in the soul. With a foreword from Nikki Giovanni, readers are alerted that Awakening The Other Side: Poems And Art Illustrations is something special.
