The year is 2044. The German Occupation Authority has held the United States in a tyrannical grip for the past 100 years, ever since the Nazis emerged victorious in World War II. Loner Scott Hanover... This description may be from another edition of this product.
While driving, I listened to this book via an audiobook read by Kevin Foley. The story, about a guy from the future who went back in time to prevent Hitler from winning WW2, was riveting. If it weren't for this guy, something called the "German Occupation Authority" (GOA) would have been the real government of the United States and we would have all been speaking German. An audiobook depends very much on the performance of the audiobook reader. A good reader can make the most lackluster story come to life in uncanny ways, and Kevin Foley is the best at this ability. During the performance, he continually changes his voice on a whim-as it were-to match the different characters in the story. When you listen to a great audiobook actor/reader, the story reader becomes invisible, as the book becomes a vivid motion picture in your mind. For me, this book was a great "movie" with all the ratings it deserves.
Riveting Story!!

Brilliant book. Very hard to put down once you've started! I'm not at all surprised at it's insite on time travel because the author taught Astronomy and wrote several books about it as a university professor. I worked with him for many years at the university and know his expertise. His astronomy class was one of the "bread and butter" classes of the department, pulling in large enrollments. This story is based on historic fact which makes it even more plausible. Would like to read more books like this one. This story would make an EXCELLENT movie.
A real page-turner.

"Timegate" is science fiction at its best The basic plot, travelling into the past to change history, must be very carefully planned, or the author can find himself in a "catch 22" situation, one that defies basic logic. If such a situation exists in "Timegate" I failed to find it. One need only assume that time travel is possible and Walter Hesse provides a very convincing arguement that it does exist. The story itself has all that a page-turner requires, danger, suspense, intrigue, romance, and of course a somewhat unexpected ending. These characteristics are woven into a sequence of of events to maintain an irresistible urge to continue reading. The characters are believable individuals of ordinary types who find themselves trying to understand, but coping with, a seemingly impossible situation. And of course, we all have a very personal interest in the story ending. With the special effects possible today in the movie industry, this book is the perfect beginning for a box office hit!
Suspenseful and Exciting

Timegate is a suspenseful and exciting book. Once you start reading this book you won't be able to put it down. Timegate keeps you on the edge of your chair. The events are very descriptive and you don't want to miss a word. I'm looking forward to reading more books from this author.
