December 6th, 1941
On a Honolulu beach, Marie, a navy nurse meets a handsome naval officer. The naval officer is a time traveler on a mission. A day of sun and sand leads to a night of romance and passion. The next morning, December 7th, Marie awakens to see the man she gave her virginity into a beam of sunlight.
During the Pearl Harbor attack, Marie attempts to reach the naval hospital, but a falling palm tree stops her. After the attack, an injured Marie returns to North Dakota.
Within weeks, Marie realizes she is pregnant. Her ex-fiance accepts Marie's pregnancy and begs her to marry him. She marries with hopes of a happy future but World War II soon makes Marie a widow. She and her infant son move to California where Marie works in a naval hospital and where she meets a doctor.
Marie hopes love will develop between her and the doctor. But then the time traveling father of Marie's son arrives, demanding his son. When Marie's son is diagnosed with polio, she is forced to negotiate with her son's father.
Marie and the time traveling father are at odds with no common ground or time in sight.
