Through the Lands of Infinite Friends
A Cree Number Adventure of Clues, Friendship, and Wonder
A roar rolls across the mountains. The river moves without wind. Strange scratches, giant footprints, and a
shining scale suggest that something enormous is moving beyond the peaks.
When p yak begins a journey through the Lands of Infinite Friends, nine travelers join the adventure. Each
new friend carries a Plains Cree number name, from p yak, meaning one, through mit taht, meaning ten.
QR codes connect readers with narrated audio, helping children hear the story and become familiar with
the Cree number words as they appear. Each character introduces their name, and p yak repeats it naturally
within the story. This gives children repeated language practice without turning the adventure into a basic
counting exercise.
As the friends cross rivers, explore bridges, climb mountains, and search an ancient castle, children follow
the clues alongside them. They listen for familiar Cree words, connect each word with its number character,
make predictions, and discover how every clue leads toward a dragon waiting beyond the mountains.
The book also includes a Cree number glossary and simple back-of-book activities for teachers, parents,
grandparents, caregivers, and families. Children can find the characters, identify visual details, answer
questions, repeat Cree words, and retell moments from the journey.
