Go ahead, read this one first!

I know THROUGH A CRIMSON VEIL is part of the Crimson City series - and I worried that I wouldn't understand what was going on if I tried to play catch-up with this, the third book. However, I'm happy to report that THROUGH A CRIMSON VEIL is a great stand-alone book! I've read Ms. O'Shea's previous work, enjoyed it immensely and wanted to read this book. I resisted, however, thinking I needed to read the others in the series. So if that's what's holding you back - stop it! Get the book and read it! Through a Crimson Veil has a great "concept", interesting, sexy characters and a great story. I've enjoyed it so much, I'm ordering the first 2 in the series and will read whatever follows. I'm not going to restate the plot lines and re-explain the book to you, other reviewers have done a great job with that. I will however, tell you that Para's are not usually my "norm" but I quite enjoyed Through a Crimson Veil. Let's see more (and more, and more) from this author!!!

Demons and Werewolves and Vampires, Oh My!

Meet the "other" race in Crimson City. Now we have demons! Well, one of them at least is in the city. She's Mika, half human-half demon. And not even a very strong demon at that. But she is stronger than the average human. She split her time between her human father and demon mother but is more comfortable in the demon world. Then we have McCabe. He hunts demons. When he isn't busy hunting werewolves and vampires. He works for B-Ops, the paramilitary outfit that serves as a policing force in the City of Angels aka Crimson City. He hates demons. But, that means he hates himself. McCabe has a demon father and a human mother, but he never met his father. He's looking to meet him though. But it's not for a Hallmark reunion, that's for sure. McCabe and Mika are hot and sexy characters. They fight and love with equal amounts of passion. Mika is a spoiled brat you want to smack at times and McCabe is an arrogant ass who needs to be kicked in the gonads. Yep, I loved these characters. Any time an author has me talking back to the characters, she's won my heart. Pick up Mika and McCabe's story today. It's the third in the Crimson City series and brings a whole new look to the players. Now it's not just fangs and vamps we have to worry about. It's a demon playground as well. And the demons are less organized factionally than either the werewolves or the vampires. Makes for a fascinating read!

I didn't want it to end....

I am so sad that Ms O'Shea is not writing more books in this series because she created characters that I cared about and wanted to see again. I'm not going to give a synopsis, that's already been done. All I am going to say is if Ms O'Shea keeps writing like she does in this book then she will be an autobuy for me. I was thoroughly impressed with the world that was created, which I know was a collaborative effort, but her part of this world I totally enjoyed. I also loved the characters and the sexual tension and yes, it was hot. I enjoy hot romances and she does not disappoint. I dare anyone to read this book and not thoroughly enjoy it. It's action adventure/sci-fi/romance. Not many authors can multi-task like that so successfully. I am hoping that this series is such a hit that they beg Ms O'Shea to write another story for it.

Crimson City is the place to be

You're nuts if you are not reading this series. Mika has been sent to Crimson City on an extremely important mission; a mission that she cannot disclose to anyone. She is trying to steal something from the B-Ops freelancer that is killing rogue paranormals on the streets of Los Angeles. This freelancer's name is Connor and he is Mika's vishtau mate. This may not mean a lot to you or me, but it is a sacred bond to the demonkind. Mika has to deceive Connor to work her way into his life. Connor does not want to trust Mika. She is a half-breed just like him and he hates his demon half due to the circumstances of his birth. He fears the loss of control that falling in love with her represents. He is very upset when her deception becomes apparent. This is a story where you really love both of the characters involved. It was awesome to watch them come together and overcome their own fears and defeat mutual enemies. You are also introduced to the Dark Ones, the Bak-Faru. They are ultra bad and you do not want to mess with them. They have plans for the world though and I for one am very worried about the citizens of Crimson City if these guys gets loose. So far this series of stories has been top notch. Each book has advanced and complemented the overall story so strongly that I am literally salivating waiting on the next book.

fantastic paranormal romantic suspense thriller

The veil keeps the demons from crossing from their world Orcus to Crimson City where humans, vampires, werewolves and other species live in a fragile peace. For a demon to penetrate the veil they must be summoned from the other side. Few can cross back and forth at will; half-breed Mika Noguchi is one of those as a hybrid human-demon. Surprisingly she is even a rarer breed as she gets along nicely with her maternal and paternal families. The Orcus Council orders Mika to find a hybrid peer demon hunter Conor McCabe in Crimson City. He apparently possesses an ancient summoning spell that they want. She comes to him asking for his protection; he reluctantly agrees but wonders what her real agenda is. When a demon tries to kill her, he saves her life. Other attempts on one or the other follow leading to the conclusion at least two groups want their respective target dead. THROUGH A CRIMSON VEIL is a fantastic paranormal romantic suspense thriller that never slows down from the moment that Conor wets Mika's panties with orange juice only fourteen hours after they meet until the final explosive climax. The story line is action-packed, but the two protagonists seem genuine and the audience will believe they are hybrids. Interestingly, Mika knows from the moment she meets Conor he is her soulmate, but leaves him in the dark because he is not accepting of the obvious. Patti O'Shea spins a jewel of a Crimson City tale.
