Great Pleasure Read!

Three Nights is the second book I read in Lena Matthews' Joker's Wild Series. She has a great writing style. 3-dimensional characters, good plot lines and enough tension to keep the reader engaged. I saw in at least one review that the reader found it hard to identify with Chris (the male main character) especially with his refusal to date women with children. I think it's believable--especially when you learn of Chris's childhood. I also like the way that she wove the characters and plot lines of all the books in this series together. You recognize a little from a previous book in each subsequent book. Very clever! Caution: This book has some very erotic scenes in it, though they definitely add to the story rather than detract from it! I think the first book I read in this series was a Kindle freebie. I'm glad I downloaded it because it got me hooked on this author! Of the three books in this series, this one and Call Me were my favorites. Stripped Bare I didn't enjoy as much.

Enjoyed the book

This was my first book by author Lena Matthews that I have read. I enjoyed the book. I must admit it took quite a while to warm up to the male lead Chris Wilson. But based on his childhood growing up his character was understandable. Enjoyed the interracial romance relationship. Eliza was admirable, ground, and strong female character. Her daughter was quite refreshing. I would recommend this book.

Quick read

Really like everything I've read so far of Lena Matthews. Lead man has some angst from serious childhood issues but not so much that you're rolling your eyes. Still, even though there are some serious issues it still had me laughing and turned on. What more do you need for a light read?

Not as good as her first book in the series

Joker's Wild - Three Nights is the second novel in the Joker's Wild Series. This novel tells the story of Chris Wilson (the business partner of Dylan from Joker's Wild - Call Me) and his secretary Eliza. Chris has had the hots for his secretary Eliza since meeting her. He's determined to get her into his bed - that is until he finds out that she has a daughter. Chris never gets involved with women who have children. Once he discovers that, he turns off the teasing and flirting although he's still very attracted to Eliza. Chris is surprised when he finds Eliza at the monthly poker game. Like Kayla and Dylan in Joker's Wild - Call Me, Chris and Eliza decide to have their own private bet - if Eliza wins, Chris will have to fulfill three of her fantasies. If Chris wins, he'll get to have Eliza any way he wants. Again, like Joker's Wild - Call Me, what follows next is what happens after the outcome of the game. I'm not sure why I didn't like this book as much as Joker's Wild - Call Me. While I really liked Eliza (and her daughter Jocelyn is a hoot), I wasn't that crazy about Chris - his actions were just a little too harsh (though his reasons for not wanting to be involved with a woman with children are understandable). I found myself not really rooting for the relationship to work out - I didn't find Chris that sexy (or at least not as sexy as Dylan in the first novel). Steaminess-wise, I found this to be less steamy than Joker's Wild - Call Me, though that doesn't mean this book isn't steamy! You don't need to read Joker's Wild - Call Me before reading this book - while there's mention of characters and the situation in Call Me, each book stands alone.

Chris Wilson's interest in his secretary has gone far beyond shorthand and coffee. His mind is full of wicked thoughts of chasing her around the office and giving in to his baser needs. Over the past several months she's noticed his heated looks and defintely heard the sexual innuendos, but then he met her daughter and has become cold and distant. Eliza doesn't know what happened to cause such a drastic change, but she's determined to find out. It's been an uncomfortable two weeks at the office since Chris met Eliza's daughter, Jocelyn. The once friendly banter between Chris and Eliza is gone, but the underlying sexual tension is still there. From the change in his attitude, Eliza assumes he doesn't like kids and if that's the case than there's no point daydreaming about a relationship with him, but there's no reason she shouldn't be able to satisfy her sexual desire for the man, now is there? Chris's partner's girlfriend, Kayla, has invited her to join in the monthly poker game. Chris admits that he doesn't date women with kids, and Eliza responds that she doesn't date men who don't like kids. Both are at an impasse until they decide to admit to what they do want. Chris wants wild uninhibited sex anyway and every way he can imagine, no strings attached. Eliza wants three nights in which he'd fulfill three of her deepest fantasies. After that he can walk out of her life if he chooses, she won't beg or plead. Looks like another high stakes poker tournament is about to take place. I was able to really get into this story and absolutely love Eliza's bravado with the way she confronts Chris. Chris has valid reasons for not dating women with children and I was easily able to sympathize with him. Jocelyn is adorable and I think anyone would be hard pressed to resist befriending her. In addition to Chris and Eliza's wild bet that results in some hilarious circumstances, we're also treated to more of Dylan and Kayla from CALL ME. Beautifully done, Ms. Matthews! This book is full of characters whom I adored, but it's also heart-warmingly funny while providing readers with a better understanding of the differences
