This book, like many, has Patanjali's Yoga Sutras at its basis. It might be good to read these Sutras first, before reading this book, though this book is general enough and easy enough to understand on its own. The book discusses the therapeutic value of Yoga as mental and physical discipline, as well as a psychology. It has specific sections on drug addiction. It seems that mastery of the body helps us to deal with the cravings of the body. This can be a support for the psychotherapy work that helps relieve the cravings on a deeper level. I have liked books that support a kind of East/West fusion of religion and science. This book is a part of this conversation.
