Guidance for developing exciting, student-centered theme studies in your classroom: understanding inquiry-based learning, choosing topics, brainstorming, selecting literature, doing research and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I found this book to be very helpful. It starts with a description of theme studies and why they're a great way for children to learn. Then it takes the reader step-by-step into creating a theme study. There is so much practical information it's hard to list it all: where to find sources, ways to keep track of materials, creating a classroom environment, working with the students through all steps of the process, presenting research and assessment. There are examples of student work and helpful pictures. If doing the same old thing with your science and social studies books are getting you down, this is a great source. Well worth the money.
