Each lesson is short enough to finish before a seven-year-old's attention runs out. The rule is explained on the page in words a child can read alone, so there is nothing to prepare and no phonics training required. Sit down together, read the rule, let them try the questions.

The chapter order is cumulative and deliberate - each rule depends on the one before it. Use the book as a spine for a term, or pull single chapters as targeted intervention when a particular pattern isn't sticking. Every activity has an answer, so it works unsupervised.
