In 2085 NASA discovers bacteria frozen in suspended animation on a mega-comet and brings samples back to earth for study. However, a freak accident during reentry enables the aggressive pathogen to escape into the planet's ecosphere triggering the start of an 'extinction level' crisis. Everyone at the NASA Astrobiology Institute is wiped out in seven short days but not before a requested sample is forwarded to the CDC in Atlanta. The CDC begins sequencing the alien DNA only to discover that it has a bizarre expanded genetic alphabet never before seen on earth. Within twenty-four hours everyone at the CDC is infected. An urgent call is made to Dr. Johnny Churchill, a prominent scientist with quirky superhuman abilities for assistance in finding a cure. But not everybody is onboard with making a vaccine readily available to the world. Certain despots view the alien pathogen as something with great potential for exploitation. Delays, hidden agendas and dangerous side effects leave the world irrevocably altered.
