A Nice, In Depth View into Canada's Fine Wines

This will be a short review: If you need to learn more about Canadian wine (such as a WSET or Court of Master Sommeliers student) this is indespensible. For the average consumer, it is overkill. Canada makes serious wines and this is a great view into the wines, regions, and producers that are putting Canada on the map for something other than the horrors that are Celine Dion, Alanis Morisette and Bryan Adams. Pros: Great Depth, well written, nice producer bios Cons: Maps (as always with Faber Faber books) get the Atlas of Wine.

best book about canadian wines

This book has a lot more information than the other Canadian wine books out there. The Wine Atlas of Canada is very glossy and pretty, and gives some nice info about wine tours etc. But that book doesn't discuss how Canadian climates affect wine-making, or which grapes thrive in which regions. The Wines of Canada, however, tells you what each winery specializes in, and which regions do best with which grapes. This isn't an especially 'pretty' book - it's not a coffee-table book but is an informative resource. It would be nice for a new edition to come out (the current one is 2005), but the info is relevant nonetheless. Highly recommended - provides great help in understanding and selecting wines in Canadian terroirs.
