Manuscript conservator Nora Quinn arrives at Aldermere House to restore a centuries-old library. Architectural historian James Whitfield is there to document the building. Neither expects what the house has been keeping: sixty-four love letters from the 1940s, written by Nora's own grandmother to the lord of the estate - a love that was never allowed to be. As Nora and James uncover the story hidden in the library, they discover in each other the thing the letters were always pointing toward: two people whose whole quality of attention had finally found its match. A tender, luminous love story about honesty, what we keep, and the life we choose when we stop managing what we feel.
