This is a cookbook akin to the Joy of Cooking - always great to have around the house as you can always find something to make with an ingredient you're trying to use. I love his veggie recipes - very simple ideas to dress up green beans and corn. His soups are fantastic, and so are his biscuit and muffin recipes. All the recipes, as another reviewer said, are simple. And everything is delicious! I couldn't live without this cookbook.

I love to cook and so have a million cookbooks, but I use The Way I Cook almost exclusively. This book contains just about any standard dish you're looking for as well as novel recipes. The recipes are not complicated to make, nor are the list of ingredients too lengthy or hard to find. The best thing about this cookbook is that I have NEVER had anything I've made from it turn out badly, and I've made many of the recipes.

Lee Bailey is great. I have all his books, 'Weekends,' 'Desserts,' 'Cooking For Friends,' etc. and I use them almost exclusively. This book is quite comprehensive and includes a few recipes from his other books. From the highly original 'Scrambled Egg Salad' to the simple 'Tomato Aspic' to the marvelous 'Veal chops with Blackberries' to the divine 'Natchez lemon Cake' you won't regret buying this cookbook. The recipes are laid out in a simple, straight forward style. Lots of cookbooks promise fabulous dishes. This one actually delivers it.
