The Vision and Beyond

This book is a must read for our times. So much is happening that agrees with the prophcey put forth in this book. We should all be informed and know our part in these last days.

The Vision abd Beyond

Amazing read considering the author wrote the book in the 70's. Disappointed that I paid $18.00 plus for used book and upon receiving item, it was labeled with a sticker for #8.00.

The Beginning of Sorrows and the End of the Age (Second edition, 2003)

Not since "The Revelation of Jesus Christ" given to John on the Isle of Patmos some 1900 years ago has there been revealed a more awe-inspiring vision concerning the end of our present age than the predictive material presented by David Wilkerson in THE VISION AND BEYOND (PROPHECIES FULFILLED AND STILL TO COME) (Lindale, Texas: World Challenge Publications, 2003). Some will remember the first edition of this work, entitled, THE VISION: A TERRIFYING PROPHECY OF DOOMSDAY THAT IS HAPPENING NOW! (New York: Pyramid Books, 1974) which had as its contents: an Introduction, eight chapters, and two appendices. The original text has not been revised in this new edition, but has been reproduced verbatim with two new chapters (7 and 8 [21 pp.]) being added to the original material. This new edition is also dimensionally larger than the first "mass-market paperback" measuring 5" x 8" and is printed on acid free paper with an updated title and cover design. These are helpful improvements over the 1974 paperback. Readers of the first edition will remember the "five tragic calamities coming upon the earth." Taken chapter-by-chapter they continue to be: (1) "Economic Confusion" with seventy-three related predictions; (2) "Drastic Weather Changes and Earthquakes" with forty-four predictions; (3) "A Flood of Filth" (an allusion to moral collapse) containing ninety-two predictions; (4) "The Number One Youth Problem of the Future" with thirty-six predictions; and (5) "Persecution Madness" (against 'born-again' Christians and 'Spirit-baptized' Roman Catholics) with ninety-one predictions. The "prediction counts" are my own and are taken informally from the text. These counts may vary from reader-to-reader, but are helpful emphasis indicators. As mentioned, this new second edition includes two new chapters, respectively: "Excerpts from David Wilkerson's Prophetic Writings" and "The Towers Have Fallen, but We Missed the Message." These two chapters offer no additional revelation relative to the original five-part vision from April 1973, but they do include details from a "prophetic message" delivered to the congregation at Times Square Church on 7 September 1992 concerning "thirty days of chastisement that will fall on New York City such as the world has never seen" (p. 118) with many devasting details. Also included are the author's reflections on the destruction of tne "Twin Towers." Observations concerning God's judgments upon Israel and Judah in the eighth and sixth centuries B.C. are again cited on various occasions throughout the book as they were in the first edition. These biblical references are not included in my informal chapter-by-chapter prediction counts as shown above. Given this newly-titled and updated second edition of a work first published twenty-nine years earlier, I would have expected more reflection and feedback from the seer-author concerning which of his predictions he believes to have been "fulfilled" as the new title suggests. AMAZING!

I first read this book over 20 years ago---I had a first edition of the paperback. Since then, so many of the things Rev Wilkerson saw in his vision have become truths. It is a good book to read; and one to make you change your own world. His Cross and the Switchblade I also read. His ministery work in NYC is still ungoing. I met a lady 2 years ago who went there, and met the boy most talked about in the book as a problem to Rev Wilkerson; that boy is grown up and runs a great deal of the missionary work now! It's one book you will keep, and read over and over again through the years to come. My own book is dog-eared! Bless You All!
