Why is gravitational redshift not considered as a candidate for the cosmological redshift? The prevailing cosmological paradigm is predicated on the substantialist interpretation of spacetime and the assumption of large-scale homogeneity. Yet in General Relativity, the principles of general covariance and diffeomorphism invariance undermine both: coordinates carry no physical meaning, and spacetime points have no identity beyond the relations between events. Einstein's Hole Argument makes this clear. Substantialism and Lambda cosmology are not compatible with General Relativity. In contrast, gravitational redshift is one of the cornerstones of relativity. The Universe Is Not Expanding reinterprets the cosmological redshift as gravitational redshift, building an entirely new paradigm from it. The resulting model recovers satisfiying results for a numnber phenomenae including the CMB temperature, the BAO preferred scale, and IR/UV cutoffs.
