The military has always been known for being a bit gender biased, being a primarily male dominated entity. The military has also been known for being able to get away with things that civilian employers would not such as harassment and discrimination. All they have to say is that it's a matter of national security and congress will allow them to bend and break any rules that fit their immediate needs. They still however are bound to some laws such as the Civil Rights Act and Equal Opportunity Employment, it is just harder to prove that they have broken these laws and since you can't as a member of the Armed Services sue the military they are extremely hard to enforce. What I will share with you are accounts of specific instances in a career where pride and honor were supposed to be the foundations, yet shame and silence were my allies. The sad thing about this story is that it's still happening now to another woman as you turn these pages. This is my story.
