Lots of intrigue going on between King Henry and Eleanor of Aquitaine and people get caught in the middle in this medieval romance novel. A young girl adopted into a wealthy, loving home reaches marriageable age and things get very complicated quickly. People aren't as they seem or what they seem. Luckily she ends up with the best man for her even if it doesn't seem so at first. He's a tortured hero with an unhappy past family life but things are looking up if he can only hang onto his wife and property. Luckily he's determined and she has allies more loyal than she could ever have imagined. Excellent storytelling by this author. I read Bellerose Bargain first and loved it so I continued with this novel and will continue through her other Medievals.
