amusing contemporary romance

In Pritchard's Neck, single dad Sean McCabe worries about his eight year old daughter Alex, suspended from school for fighting and for carrying a weapon. The principal Ms. Simmons tells Sean that his daughter struggles between reality and fantasy; Sean knows that he is doing his best but failing at his death bed promise to his now deceased wife Jillian to take care of their child. Kit Darling returns to Pritchard's Neck, the town that forced her to flee almost a decade ago due to the amoral femme fatale antics of her mother. To pay off her late mom's debts, Kit sells items that her mom collected mostly to horrify her neighbors before she turned to young men. Alex arrives seeking Seafaring Cecil books, which stuns Kit because she is the author. Sean comes to collect his daughter, but fails to recognize Kit though they attended school together and she knows his eyes. Alex likes Kit who treats her with respect and intelligence and decides she is perfect for her and her dad. Though Alex is too precocious, fans will enjoy this amusing contemporary romance starring a delightful lead couple and his matchmaking daughter. The antics pulled by Alex to bring her favorite author and her beloved dad together are humorous as more often than not the tricks fail. As the adults fall in love over the objections of his family except his child, Kit has lived the life of a wanderer and doubts she can settle down in place especially this place. Amy Frazier provides a jocular tale filled with laughs to counter well examined serious issues making for a super romance. Harriet Klausner
