"THE TALISMAN EFFECT" follows "John Doe," a coma patient as a result of a one-car accident. It's unknown whether Doe was the driver, passenger, or pedestrian. The car in question is missing and there are no dental or fingerprint records, or even Doe's driver's license. After two years of no positive results at Alpharetta, Georgia's only hospital, Doe is transferred to a convalescent hospital across town. The neurologist, after monitoring John's vital signs and status for two months, decides to discontinue all therapy on this patient whose identity is still not known. He languishes in his hospital bed, unable to communicate at all - until a female night janitor with no medical background discovers a portal through which John can communicate (by way of Morse Code). Each time a song from Doe's past is played, he recounts another chapter in his life story. His accidental caregiver continues to administer this unorthodox therapy to find out his identity, his story, and - hopefully - a way to end his 28-month-long coma-induced purgatory. without the knowledge of other hospital personnel. The main character - first known as John Doe, then "Gray Eyes," and then his actual name - has compiled the perfect soundtrack of his time on earth.
