Naughty fellow but irresistible

He's such a very bad rat but I love his funny tummy and can't resist giving it a friendly poke.

Nasty rats, Naughty Kittens

Tabitha Twitchet has three very naughty kittens, Moppet, Mittens and Tom Kitten; whom she keeps on loosing tracks on. One day, they went missing once more, but as she search high and low, she could only find Moppet and Mittens. Tome however, didn't go missing, but merely hiding in the chimney only to be captured by a enormous Samuel Whiskers. His wife begins to prep up the ingredients to turn the terrified Tom into a "Kitten dumpling roly-poly pudding" This is a cute story, with quite a plot that could turn and twist your kids in gasping suspense. Aid with beautiful illustration to aid your children in nurturing them with absolutely healthy imaginations. I actually enjoy reading this as well.

Great cast of characters! Great use of language!

Beatrix Potter is my favorite children's author. Her use of language is incredible, and her story lines are just dark enough to be interesting, and not so dark that they are truly terrifying. Samuel Whiskers is the story of how Tom Kitten is almost made into a pudding dumpling. Highlights include an argument between Samuel Whiskers and his wife, Anna Maria, on the proper way to make a pudding, and Tom Kitten who, at the height of his regret about climbing the chimney, finds delight in how he's sweeping the chimney with his clothes. Those who are heavily PC may not appreciate Potter's references to snuff, and whipping, but for the rest of us, those references add real color and interest to the story.

I love the part in here where the two rats or mice whatever thay are put Tom in the bread and try to turn him into roly poly pudding for their dinner!

Samuel Whiskers

This is one of my favorite stories when I was younger, and still is today. This story is so funny, and cute, and charming. In it you follow Tom Kitten along his adventure, more like a MISadventure. His mother is Ms. Tabitha Twitchit, a very fussy, over protective mother of her three kittens. Moppet, Mittens, and our hero of the story are silly kittens who are always mischeivious in any situation. They are always running away from their mother in their huge house, sneaking around, trying to cause trouble. Follow Tom Kitten as he goes on an adventure that is more dangerous than fun. When he gets lost and Tabitha tries to find him, her sister Mrs. Ribby, who is very fussy and angry with Tom, doesn't help the situation. See what happens to Tom when he gets trapped with two HUGE HUNGRY rates with no way to escape! This, in my opinion, is one of her best stories and the characters in it are unforgetable.

a thriller for three-year-olds!

Far from Potter's most famous book, this must be one of her most gripping tales - and with the darker side of life more pressing than usual! Tabitha Twitchet has lost track of her son, Tom Kitten, somewhere in the old house they inhabit. As she searches, she frets about the rats that infest the hidden reaches of the walls. Cut to Tom, escaping mother's discipline via the dubious strategem of entering the chimney and exploring the flues, only to be captured by the enormous old rat, Samuel Whiskers, whose wife begins the work of turning terrified Tom into a "kitten dumpling roly-poly pudding!" My three-year-old adores this story, albeit with a tense excitement (no, it hasn't given her nightmares). It is a bit less lavishly illustrated than some of Potter's work, but there are a number of good watercolors and many fine line drawings.
