Roshi Philip Kapleau used to say Zen Buddhism will appeal to Americans because to the national 'do-it-yourself' attitude. Anzan Hoshin has written an excellent, clear, and straight forward book on Zen, zazen, and the ways of practice. This book is for the serious student and will amply repay the time invested in its study.
