The Story I Tell is written in three parts. Part one tells the story of my why. It's the story of a school social worker who wanted to disrupt the outcomes of student death by suicide and school violence, but didn't know what the skills, tools, strategies were to teach - that worked. I wanted the students to see the possibility I saw in them. I realized that what I saw in them so clearly, I was unable to see in myself as I had been cycling through depression for almost twenty years. Part two tells the story of my journey inward to find the skills, tools, and strategies that would heal my own existensial depression. I knew if I could heal me, I could share the knowledge from a place of experience and knowing. Part three includes six skills, tools, and strategies that supported my own sustainable growth outcomes and returned me to me.
