If I had to live on a deserted island the rest of my life...

.. and could only take 5 books with me, this would be one of them. I am an avid reader, consuming books I love, tossing out those I find less than great. This one tops all the books in the genre of spiritual romance. The other reviewers (below) have done a good job of telling the storyline so I won't repeat it. By the way, while a sequel, this book still stands alone. The first book, A Rush of Wings, is also quite good and will help you understand the characters in The Still of Night. But don't be afraid to jump straight into Still Of Night..... although if you read one, I'm betting you will read the other. Enjoy this great book!

Three Dimensional Characters with an Amazing Story

Two high school kids in love. One mistake. A lifetime of regret. Fifteen years ago, Jill and Morgan lost sight of their love and each other when she became pregnant. Unable to handle the situation, Jill's parents decided the best thing to do was hide her away until the baby was born, give it up for adoption, and make certain that Morgan never contacted her again. Sadly, Morgan was intentionally misinformed and told the baby was aborted. In the interim, Jill has become a teacher of unstable children, maybe as some sort of attempt to fill the void she had created in herself. Morgan has grown successful and wealthy, but money and possessions have never been able to fix the emotional upheaval he faces on an almost daily basis. They both think they have done the best they can do get over their past mistakes, yet they are still haunted by them. The past comes back with a vengeance, however, when Jill receives an unexpected phone call from the adoptive parents. Their daughter is sick and only a blood relative can help her now. Jill must face Morgan for the first time in fifteen years and finally tell him the truth. Some people think that their faith is unwavering and others have given up on it altogether. Did God have a purpose for the journey this small group of people is about to embark upon? And will they open their eyes long enough to find the truth that's been hidden for much too long?

A touching story of choices, secrets and love.

This is the sequel to Kristen's book ""A Rush of Wings." First, I will say that I highly recommend reading that book first as it lays the foundation for how you will regard the main character, Morgan Spencer, and the pain certain decisions left him with and how he coped with them over the last fifteen years. After reading the first book, Morgan had me baffled, he is a very complex character that I adored and I couldn't wait to follow his path in life. It would do a terrible diservice to any potential readers if any reviewer reveals the beautiful plot twists in their review because this book has one that is touchingly powerful. The characters in this book are fabulous, they are real, they make real mistakes, and they have to grow through the consequences and it doesn't happen in one "Bubble Gum Sweet Moment" that happens in a lot of Christian fiction. I read this book in one sitting, and almost missed a very touching and very real confession (on about page 289 by Jill) because I was too interested in finding out what happens. I had to go back and read that part in particular and was thrilled that Heitzmann included it and it solidified her in my mind as a master storyteller. Heitzmann also give you some closure on the characters from "A Rush of Wings." The Spencer brothers are my ALL time favorite male characters in Christian fiction and I appreciated seeing how Rick was doing a year later. If you read books to meet the characters, to fall in love with them and to walk with them on their journey in life then you will love this book. To top off the quality of characters it has a plot that is not only touching but exciting which is a combination often hard to find. I have never seen a plot in Christian fiction similar and the diversity was enjoyable. A good all around read, tissues and all. I hope to see more from Heitzmann on the Spencer family maybe the younger sisters?

Another great book by Kristen Heitzmann

This is an extremely well-written story that picks up where Rush of Wings left off. The characters are so real and the story line is too. It really makes you think about choices and God's plan for your life. A definite must read!

Excellent Author!

This book is such an enjoyable read. It is a sequel to Rush of Wings but I enjoyed it more. Kristen Heitzmann has such a gift. She is able to present the Gospel without sounding "preachy". Her characters are so real. Have the tissue ready when you read this one!
