Beautifully illustrated and written fairy tale!

Ruth Sanderson has a GIFT to illustrate. I highly recommend this book to anyone who appreciates beautifully illustrated fairy tales. The best picture is of Father Frost and Mother Spring...gorgeous illustration! The story is well written also. It makes the story even more appealing that it not well known but is well written. A sort of Bittersweet tale

I like the cover of this book quite a bit as the snow has some glitter built into it. Its a Russian tale, of the Snow Princess, her father is the winter her mother is essentially the spring. She is happy and lovely--except she is curious about the world she lives in. So her parents give her permission to explore the world, with one warning. If love touches her heart she shall become mortal and die. We know where this is going. My only problem is that, while the guy is perfectly nice he is shown really earning her sacrafice. I think he should have done something for her besides get nearly frozen to death. (which wasn't even for her, it was for a lost sheep!) Aside from my little character development problem, I love the illustrations and the story as a whole is very nice.

Lovely New Children's Book

A long time ago, in a faraway land, Mother Spring and Father Frost were blessed with the arrival of their daughter. The two proud parents called her their Snow Princess, as she had the power to conjure up snowstorms at any time. As the Snow Princess grows, she becomes curious about the lands around her, and sets off on an adventure to see the world. However, she must obey the one warning that her parents give her - never fall in love. The Snow Princess travels through many lands, with many animal companions, until a young man playing a flute captures her attention. His name is Sergei, and the Snow Princess finds that she may be falling in love with him, but must try not to, as to listen to her parents warning. But in the midst of a powerful snowstorm, the Snow Princess must finally decide for herself how she truly feels. Ruth Sanderson could not have done a more fabulous job with THE SNOW PRINCESS. The lovely prose, and tale couldn't be more heartwarming, while the illustrations are utterly gorgeous, and look so real you may mistake them for actual photographs of real people. This is a book that should be read by all, as it will enchant you, and bring love into your heart. A must have! Erika Sorocco Book Review Columnist for The Community Bugle Newspaper
