I fell asleep!

As a lover a fairy tales, myth, and lore I glommed onto this as soon as it was recommended. I'm all for an adult spin on a child's story. The good- the illustrations were absolutely fantastic. It's worth buying for that alone. The story DOES have a spin. The meh- this book is not a bad one. It's just ok. It has notes of interest in as much as the damsel role is flipped twice, a hero and a villain. I don't want to ruin it for you. This is not a tale I'll go back to in the way I have so many others. If you like a fem viewpoint on an old story you'll like it. But love it, likely not.

Weird. Just... weird

I genuinely don’t know how to feel about this book. It was so strange and the pictures, though interesting, gave the whole thing an even creepier feeling that the story by itself. I didn’t love it but I was far from hating it as well. It just left me unsettled and frowning. There was no real conclusion. It felt like a small section plucked out of a larger story and made me wish this had been the full story rather than just this one bit. How do you even rate a book like this? What a bizarre piece of literature. 4/5 stars because I feel like that’s a solid rating from me.
