The Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ

Why did Jesus beg The Father to forgive these people?(1) To save the people from the punishment of God God sent Jesus to redeem us from the bondage of sin. Jesus shed His blood for the mankind, to fulfill the will of God. The wrath of God will surely come upon those who persecuted Jesus, who came to fulfill the will of God. For Example, God sent Moses to deliver the people of Israel from the bondage of Egypt. He did what the LORD had commanded him, but the wrath of God came upon those who rose up against Moses in the journey of Canaan. Even Miriam was the sister of Moses, God punished her for murmuring against Moses. Jesus knew that God would punish those who rose up against Him, and begged God to forgive them.Eventhough Jesus prayed for the forgiveness of the people, some things took place on earth as a sign of the wrath of God poured out on the earth.(1) The curtain of the temple was torn in two.(2) The earth shook.(3) The rocks were split.(4) The tombs also were opened. Even after Jesus prayed, these incidents were happened. If Jesus had not prayed for the people, we could not even imagine how terrible the wrath of the LORD would have been poured out on the people. We should pray every day that the wrath of the Lord should not be poured out on the land, just as Jesus pleaded that people should not be punished. And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Eze. 22:30](2) To be an example Preaching is easy but it is difficult to practice it in life. Peter once asked Jesus how many times he should forgive his brother. Jesus said, "seventy-seven times". Jesus, who spoke of forgiveness, forgave others on the cross. Jesus is the best example of forgiveness. By this, Jesus tells us to follow His footsteps. Before we preach any verse from the Bible, we must first walk by that verse. Let our lives show the way of Jesus to others. If we live like Jesus, even without sharing Gospel, people will accept Jesus as their savior just by seeing Jesus in our lives. If we do not reflect the love of Jesus in our lives, we are the stumbling block of others to know Jesus.
