Louise Erdrich at her best.

I’ve long-loved Louise Erdrich, but as her character Louise in this book, I feel she holds back as to not upset expectations too radically. While this is not as spicy as some of the Indigenous voices coming out of Winnipeg, it is still wonderfully full bodied. The dialog and voices are so incredibly true to life. Masterful. Warning: Not much comfort to those attached to their own White Fragility, but also not a polemic.

All 8 members of my book club hated this book !! Confusing dialog and characters not well developed. We tried to read it but we all decided not to finish it and select another book for discussion. Do not recommend.
