Great Cassette.... if only there were a CD version

I love this kit, and have used it from time to time. The author has a pleasant English accent, and if you've ever listened to any guided meditation before, you know that the voice can affect your ability to relax and follow instructions. After some practice, I was able to try SELF-HYPNOSIS on myself. I set a time limit (60 seconds) for me to go under and think about a specific topic. My friend was in the room with his watch and timed the entire episode. It was truly unbelievable that my mind/body knew precisely when I had been under for the specified time frame, and then woke up automatically. We tried this with various time frames, and each time, I woke up as scheduled. It was similar to the body rhythm that wakes you up at the same time in the morning for a work day... and yes, annoyingly so on a weekend. It was very interesting to see that I could concentrate (brainstorm, really, in a fast paced but relaxed manner) on a particular topic of interest while under SELF-HYPNOSIS and still wake up at the specified time WITHOUT aid of a timer, clock, or person. Both sides of the tape, as well as the booklet that accompanies it, are worth the price of admission in my book. Good luck on your journey!

Great book, even better audio tape

I, too, often fall asleep listening to the audio tape. I consider it a good thing since I normally have trouble falling asleep. If you do not want to fall asleep while listening to this tape, I reccommend sitting upright in a chair without a head rest; use the tape at a time when you are not tired. Besides helping me sleep better, both the book and the tape helped me handle my stress and self-esteem issues. The book is packed full of affirmation scripts for different ailments (including smoking cessation, skin problems, asthma, and confidence) that you can use to personalize your self-hypnosis routine. I found the one on weight control to be especially useful in helping me achieve my weight loss goals. Only one thing would make this product perfect: if the audio tape was a CD instead. When I fall asleep during the tape, the automatic stop button pops up and rudely rips me from my sleep.

Good guided meditation tape

This is a great guided meditation tape; I love it and use it frequently. Hypnosis? No. I do not believe I have experience self-hypnosis through this tape. Maybe with more practice I will, but to date I admit to a little disappointment in not achieving self-hypnosis.Why then 5 stars you ask? I find meditating with the tape very soothing and calming. The woman's accent and voice are lovely, and even if I never become hypnotized, the tape has been extremely useful to me.

Pleastantly suprised.

This actually worked. I read the book,put the tape in followed the voice and before I knew it I could not open my eyes! I was in a trance or under hypnosis. I came out of the hypnosis feeling great. Completely relieved of my worries and stress. Alot of people complained of the accent of the lady on the tape. Don't think about it. She has a soothing voice. Before you know it you will be in your own garden created in your own mind. Once you get the hang of hypnosis you can use it to take away other problems,headaches,asthma,smoking,aches and pains,worries,just about everything that bothers you. Try it. Results will happen.

Most Excellent! Multi-purpose use

I've used this tape a few times now and it REALLY WORKS! It is GREAT! If you can count, you can do it. The great thing about the "garden" is, that you visualize it - it becomes your garden. Like a real garden, you can also change it! I took away plants, added a gate and a whole beach and sea behind it - on which I take regular "walks" when giving myself positive statements to study better, relax more and do just about anything! (I recently made a work-deadline, which I wouldn't have been able to, if I didn't use self-hypnosis)The soothing voice helps. There's also a booklet with suggestions that can help one increase confidence, manage stress, get fit, sleep better, relieve asthma, develop your spirituality, heal yourself, relieve pain, improve your health, quit smoking, control weight, think positively, ease childbirth, enhance memory and improve at sport. The suggestions in the book can be followed, or you can use suggestions of your own - I have - it works really well. The best thing is after doing the technique twice, you have the hang of it and you can hypnotise yourself anytime, anywhere to get positive results. Well worth the money - and then some!
