The Sau-Wing Lam Collection: A Presentation of Rare Italian-Stringed Instruments is an adaption of an earlier, limited release production in 1998. The title, which presents Sau-Wing Lam's collection of rare, Italian-Stringed Instruments is noteworthy for several reasons. First, it is comprehensive, containing at least one instrument made by each of the major Italian luthiers from the birth of the violin in the early 1500's to the late 1800's. Second, it includes a rare "Amati Quartet" consisting of two violins, a viola and a cello made by members of the Amati family in Cremona. Last, and most unique, each instrument in the collection is still in performance-ready condition, capable of producing extraordinary sound quality.
