A wonderful summer getaway story

I just finished this book, and enjoyed it. Kaitlyn Rice has well-developed characters who are real. As she herself says, you'll probably recognize a piece of yourself in her characters - and that's because she makes them so believable. The setting is in Colorado over summer break, which I thought was a very nice touch. I read romances for a little vacation over my lunch hour - and it was refreshing to spend a little time escaping the daily grind with the Runaway Bridesmaid!

warm contemporary romance

In Augusta, Kansas Isabel Blume believes it is only a matter of time before her boyfriend Roger asks her to marry him. However, her dream is shattered when she catches the wedding bouquet tossed by his cousin only to have Roger's two children, eleven years old R.J. and six years old Angie, make it clear that their father has no plans to wed anyone in the foreseeable future. Hoping to bring him up to the mark, but also escape her disappointment that she is no more than an unpaid babysitter to him, Isabel travels to Colorado to help her friend Darla run Burch Lodge. There she meets law professor Trevor Kincaid, hosting a wilderness experience for teenage boys. As Isabel and Trevor fall in love, she wonders if she is fickle as she thought Roger was the one. The second Heartland Sisters story (see THE LATE BLOOMER'S BABY) is a warm contemporary romance starring a nice nurturing Isabel who soon has two men chasing after her, which leaves Blume in love and confused.
