On the front cover the book says "Everything the Lonely Planet won't tell you" and it fulfills its promise. With an irreverent, outspoken voice reading the Road Junky Handbook is like sitting down in a bar with a drunk traveler who's been around the world a million times and picking his brain on where to go and work, get stoned and party. There's a bunch of outlandish travel stories in there to prove the travel pedigree including tales of people surfing trains in Cambodia, surviving immigration jail in Bangkok and night-climbing the pyramids in Egypt. The book is a little rough around the edges, maybe but is a welcome breath of fresh air compared to the other dull guidebooks everyone carries around and should get you some kudos at the hostel.
