Rime of the Ancient Mariner is the great narrative poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge rendered into comic strip form by Hunt Emerson. The book includes the complete original poem with Coleridge's, notes and humor added by Hunt Emerson, and an introduction by Gilbert Shelton.
On the surface, this is a poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge about a mariner who dispatches an albatross. Of course, it is a metaphor and has a deeper significance. Anyone can tell the tale, but not as well (and as graphically) as Coleridge.
It is interesting how people who never really read the poem quote and misquote the poem. One thinks having an albatross around one's neck is because the bird is bad luck, not that the bird brought good luck until it was dispatched.
