I've used mine so much, it's practically falling apart.

I love this cookbook! I've been using the copy I TOOK from my mom for at least 12 years. I use this one more often than any of the other ones that I have, which is high praise, considering that I collect cookbooks. My fondest wish is that one day, someone comes out with an updated version that is just as good as the (rather sad looking) copy that I currently have.

best cookbook I've ever had

I have a collection of cookbooks and two grown sons....both want to be sure they get that one cookbook - when I'm done cooking. I think I'll buy them each their own copy. It's the most comprehensive, easy to use, basic cookbook. All of your favorite classic recipes are there.

I have had this cookbook forever. I have never found a cookbook that was this comprehensive and easy to use. Great recipes.

Great basic info - comprehensive collection - few pictures

I have a 1976 edition of this book and it has become my standby reference. Lots of useful information for the beginner. 1048 pages almost 900 of recipes, the rest devoted to tips, meal planning and food information with a good glossary and complete index. I hope Grosset and Dunlap will consider updating this usfull title.
