Summary:
If you're looking for a hilarious romcom with a bit of heart and cute girls with minimal fan service, pick this up. With the cute art, tenacious male lead, and five beautiful, troublemaking girls, with personalities as varied as their study aversion tactics, you're bound to love it.
Full review:
That is the question I've been asking myself since I looked at the first page of this volume. After meeting the girls and seeing how they all interact with Futaro Uesugi, the male lead, I seriously have no idea who the bride is, but dang it, do I want to find out! There was a lot of hilarity and comedic tension. The quintuplets are unique; aside from hairstyles and an accessory to identify each one, once they spoke, you'd be able to tell who was who even if they looked the same. And their personalities combined make them even funnier and feel realistic... As far as a romcom manga can.
Despite Futaro seeming basic at first glance, his studious, no-nonsense personality gave life to a relatively typical-looking bowl haircut, male character. His reasoning to take on the five tutees ‐ and stick around after seeing the trouble they can cause - feels genuine, giving the light-hearted humor a bit more sustenance, making it more than a romcom. Thankfully, there's not a lot of fan service, and what there is, is very tame for the use of the term. The art is good at telling the emotions of the scene, while still being cute all the way through.
This is the first volume in the 13-volume series, which I am reading from the 2-part box set. I can't wait to dive in further to see what other antics the girls get up to and to watch poor Futaro wrangle them into making the sisters study!
