Book Overview

After decades of banishment to popular magazines and advice columns, jealousy and envy have emerged as legitimate topics of scientific inquiry. This volume includes chapters from nearly every major contributor to the psychological literature in this area. From emotional, and cognitive processes that underlie jealousy and envy; to the ways these emotions are experienced and expressed within close relationships; to family, societal, and cultural contexts, the volume offers a definitive statement of current theory and research.

A must-read for anyone desiring to understand envy.

Anyone that desires to understand why they or someone else feels envious would be well-advised to read this book. Research studies from different people at different times have been pulled together very nicely giving us an in-depth explanation of why people feel envy. Furthermore, the often resulting hostility is also explained. This book should help anyone confronted with this problem to fully understand the reasons for the emotions and therefore effectively deal with them.
