The ProShop Systems Foundation Manual: Practical Systems for Building Better Independent Auto Repair Shops

By Benjamin Davis

A better repair shop is not built by pushing people harder. It is built by removing the things that keep good people from doing good work.

The ProShop Systems Foundation Manual is a practical guide for independent automotive repair shop owners, managers, service advisors, foremen, and technicians who want a shop that runs with more consistency, less chaos, stronger accountability, and healthier profitability.

This is not a collection of generic benchmarks or a one-size-fits-all formula. It is built from decades spent inside real repair shops-seeing what works, what fails, and what happens when good people are trapped inside bad systems.

Inside, you will learn how to:

Identify the bottleneck that actually deserves attention firstImprove workflow and dispatch without simply demanding more speedReduce wasted motion by staging keys, parts, information, and work ahead of techniciansUse KPIs to understand problems instead of punish peopleSeparate training problems, system problems, and integrity problemsImprove inspection quality and customer communicationDevelop apprentices and experienced employees more effectivelyBuild profitability without sacrificing honesty or workmanshipCreate standards that hold up even when the shop gets busyMake small improvements that produce measurable results

You will also find the Monday Shop Health Check, a practical tool designed to help identify one controllable problem and begin improving it immediately.

ProShop Systems believes that independent repair shops should be places where employees are proud to work, customers are confident sending their families, and the next generation sees automotive repair as a profession worth joining.

You do not need a perfect shop to start.

You just need to understand where you are, decide where you want to go, and make the next move better.

Tomorrow is a new day. Let's build something better.
