A nice romance book for young ladies

DeLanna has endured much from her mother and is now ready to start life on her own. As per usual, Nancy has given us another good book to read and keep us interested all the time. It's not easy to put the book down. Just keep the series going!!!

A charming courtship for DeLanna

It was wonderful to read a teenage love story that was based on friendship and mutual respect. Although DeLanna seems to live a charmed life in many respects, she is unsatisfied with her endless limitations. Andrew too, is limited, but by money and social standing. They find what they need and want in each other. No longer alone, they set off on a journey toward a new life together.

Great Series!!

Once you start the Apple Valley series, make sure that you have all of the books on hand because you'll want to read the next one as soon as you finish reading the one before! Note to Ms. Smith: Thank you and please get busy, I'm waiting for the rest of the series!

A touching love story with tears and laughter

DeLanna and Andrew continue their love/hate relationship begun in Book 1 of this pioneer series. But soon the love wins out and together they face and overcome all of the obstacles that threaten to keep them apart. The author brings to life 19th century history. It's almost as is she was DeLanna in another life!! This is the kind of story we should be seeing on TV.

A short but great romance.

The Proposal, by Nanmcy Covert Smith, takes place in Indiana County, Pennsylvania in 1826. DeLanna, the protagonist, is a 15 year old beauty, daring and chartming. She loves her freedom and dreams of some excitement in her life. To her bad luck, in Indiana County, women have limited privileges and are expectewd to be perfect house wives. DeLanna's family is made up of Jhon Robinshon, her loving and understanding father. Charity, her strict mother. Grace, her caring grandmother. And finally, her friendly and smart brothers; Mathew age 18, Jacob 17,and Dan 19. DeLanna's life was enviable in those times. She belonged to a prosperous family that owned large quantities of farming land. She had a beautiful house and everything she materialy needed. But that wasn't enough for her. She desired the liberty boys enjoyed. Andrew, Dan's best friend, was the only boy who loved adventure and a daring life like DeLanna.He is 19 years of age, but didn't belong to a good family like DeLanna. Instead, he was part of a poor and badly seen family, the Tabor's. Nevertheless, Andrew wanted change. He thought about the future as a way of starting a new life. But his plans weren't complete without a women who shared his same feelings and desires by his side... This novel is a great choice for young readers. The main characters are adolescents and we can identify with the story. The ideas that stood out the most were the low place women had in society and the discrimination against less fortunate people. Eventhough I considered this a really fast novel to read, it left me thinking about life today and how things have changed as time passed.
