This book is greatly underrated... probably because it's such a realistic assessment of prison life rather than the vision so often shown in motion pictures. The photography captures the subtle nuances of life behind bars... with photos that capture the oppressiveness of prison life which is really devoid of glamor while at the same time depicting the reality of the the subjects' lives . Real people expressing their feelings with dignity but often with regret. I think it's a "must read" book. Worthwhile reading at a worthwhile price. The prison "dictionary" alone is worth the price!
