The Primacy Model of Consciousness

The Primacy Model of Consciousness is an explication of four paradigm shifts. A paradigm shift is a radical change in assumptions, such as the pre-Copernicus, post-Copernicus shift. The first paradigm shift is from social science called Galileo Theory. The second paradigm shift is from physical science called Holographic Theory. The next two paradigm shifts are in cognitive science, which is the science of the nature of consciousness. They are called the Galileo/Holographic Model and The Primacy Model of Consciousness. The first three paradigm shifts are supported by empirical evidence. The fourth paradigm shift has a central hypothesis that consciousness is not an epiphenomena of biochemical interactions in the brain. The hypothesis is that matter, energy, and space/time are not the foundation of consciousness, but that consciousness is the foundation of matter, energy and space/time. It is argued that the individual identity is not extinguished upon physical death.
