The Human Need for Other People

One of the main things that I have carried away from reading this book is the stress it places on the human need for other people. We accomplish very little alone. Nearly all personal success is due to the relationships we have with other people who influence or help us in our endeavors. This book reminds the reader, especially those of us who are somewhat introverted in the presence of strangers, that the more people we know, the greater the quality of life. This is because different people have a variety of talents, insights, and personal connections that can bring benefit to others. Expanding the number of people we know enlarges the potential we have for solving our own problems or helping those we care about. This caused me to reflect on the fact that I might be able to help people just by introducing them to other people I know. The book also spends time on some practical issues of getting to know others and maintaining relationships: Things such as exchanging two business cards in order to facilitate referrals (inspiring the title), overcoming the impersonal barriers that high tech communication tools may pose and advice on using them effectively, and most importantly, focusing on the needs of others in building relationships rather than your own ambitions. Put properly, your services will be valued and sought when you learn to effectively meet the needs of others. This book has made me want to take some time to remember all the people I know, especially those whom I've lost touch with, and to begin to revive all the relationships I've neglected out of laziness or distraction. If we really understood the importance of friendship, then we would always strive to maintain them, and we would never lose an opportunity to make new ones. This brings me to a second resolve, which is that when in social situations, it is important to resist the urge to withdraw into a shell, and instead seize the opportunity to meet some new people. For people who value their relationships with others but experience frustration in initiating or maintaining them, this book is definitely a step in the right direction.

It Takes Two

The Power of 2 by Anthony Sciré (shur-RÁY) is all about relationships. You will discover why you should hand out your business cards two at a time. You will learn to "circulate and percolate". You will find the essential skills that build solid relationships. This book will encourage and inspire salespeople. And everyone is selling something. If I am ever accused of being nice to someone, this book is to blame. Sciré loves people and it shows. I love this book and am giving it five stars. Dan Poynter, ParaPublishing.com

Building productive, mutually beneficial relationships

The Power Of 2: Win Big With People In Your Work And In Life by author, international businessman, and motivational speaker Anthony C. Scire is a solid, "reader friendly", guide to building productive, mutually beneficial relationships with other people, whether in business or in the personal areas of life. From the importance of a sociable attitude, to learning how to master one's emotions, to building "high-touch" relationships, to adapting in an increasingly technological workplace, The Power Of 2 is a thoroughly practical and even inspired resource especially suited to the paradoxically globalized yet socially isolated world of today.
