Wonderful guide for getting the most of Poser,

This is a wonderful guide for getting the most out of Poser 3. Its clear step-by-step instructions make it useful for beginning to advanced users. There are lots of b/w pictures to guide you and an awesome full color gallery.First, it covers the basics in detail teaching how to pose, composite & animate characters. It also covers morphing, rendering & customizing templates. The CD is packed with animations, extra props, reference files & demos.The advanced sections are where it really shines. It explains how to use Poser with other programs including importing characters that can be animated like any native poser model. Zygote characters are included & covered in depth. The master tips, including everything from lip synching to adding clothing are also invaluable. I found the projects including a moving carousel & a centaur to be excellent training tools as well.

A much-needed resource for 3D artists, but a *long* read.

I purchased this book about two months ago. I was not impressed with the volume and span of information covered, but nonetheless, this is a fine resources for all artists who are considering using Poser as a mainstay in their program skill sets. Particularly noteable: keyframe animation and lip-synching to WAV files. Also, (and in my opinion, this was worth the price of the book alone) there is a section on handshaking protocols with other 3D programs (RayDream Studio, 3DS Max, LightWave, Infini-D, etc.). Poser's interaction with MetaCreation's other very powerful mid-price-range vehicle, Ray Dream Studio 5, makes for unbeliveable effects for practically pocket change.If you're going to use Poser for serious reasons, you need this book.

need to know how to do things in poser...you need this book!

This is one of the best books of it's type. first of all, it is the only book on poser 3. it has given me insights into poser 3 that would have taken me possibly months to get. it gives you so much. and the cd-rom that's included, gives you everything that's in the book, including projects to make. it also gives you templates of almost all of the poser characters, and their clear too! anyone wanting to paint texture on their models know's how important that is. i have no regrets about buying this book. if i had to pay $20.00 more for it, knowing what i know now, i would do it in a heartbeat!
