A Jewish-American FORSYTHE SAGA

Very readable story of a Jewish immigrant family in the United States, starting at the time of the Civil War. All kinds of important issues are dealt with in this novel: slavery, racial intolerance in general, love and marriage, parent/child relationships, business in an emerging America, and even the reasons for the stock market crash in 1929. Highly recommend it!

A sweeping saga of an American family.

This finely written novel is highly evocative of late 19th and early to mid 20th century American life. This is a humane, compassionate novel by a writer with a gift for capturing interesting characters. Longstreet is a prolific novelist, and this is one of his very best works.
