Book Overview

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - " Sarah Addison Allen] juggles small-town history and mystical thriller, character development and eerie magical realism in a fine Southern gothic drama."--Publishers Weekly

It's the dubious distinction of thirty-year-old Willa Jackson to hail from a fine old Southern family of means that met with financial ruin generations ago. The Blue Ridge Madam--built by Willa's great-great-grandfather and once the finest home in Walls of Water, North Carolina--has stood for years as a monument to misfortune and scandal. Willa has lately learned that an old classmate--socialite Paxton Osgood--has restored the house to its former glory, with plans to turn it into a top-flight inn. But when a skeleton is found buried beneath the property's lone peach tree, long-kept secrets come to light, accompanied by a spate of strange occurrences throughout the town. Thrust together in an unlikely friendship, united by a full-blooded mystery, Willa and Paxton must confront the passions and betrayals that once bound their families--and uncover the truths that have transcended time to touch the hearts of the living.

Lovely

Fun read

3 stars

THE PEACH KEEPER by Sarah Addison Allen Despite going to the same high school Willa Jackson, Colin and Paxton Osgood, and Sebastian weren’t exactly friends. Now in their 30s, they’ll have to reconcile their past pettiness and their relationships with themselves and each other. It’s giving… The Breakfast Club if it was a Hallmark romance movie. While there were quirky and fun magical realism elements I’ve come to expect from Sarah Addison Allen’s books, this particular story just didn’t do it for me. The plot felt very choppy. The flashback with their grandmothers toward the end seemed out of place and anticlimactic. Overall, it was just okay. Less of a mystery and more of the average, cliched, feel-good fluffy novel. Rating: 3/5 ⭐️

Such a good story!

I have come to love Sarah Addison Allen's books and this was no different. The subtle magic, the call backs to other books, a relatable storyline. It was such a good book I was sad to see it end.

Magical Southern Story

Think Fried Green Tomatoes with an essence of magic. I read this book in a day, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Give this book a try, you won’t regret it.

Another Sarah Addison page turner.

I can’t get enough of Sarah’s books. They hold your interest until the last word...then you want more.
