Should be book #1 if you're planning social science research

An extremely helpful overview of the terrain of social science research. Even if you're wed to a particular culture of inquiry or methodology, start here. Also recommended is "Mindful Inquiry in Social Research" by Shapiro and Bentz. Armed with both, you'll be at a great starting place.
