The Setup

A mole network within the U.S. government, led by Deputy Director Robert Stone, who has been feeding secrets to Beijing for years.
While American forces race to Taiwan's defense, a parallel war unfolds in the shadows. Deep-cover Chinese agent Mei Ling defects, revealing assassination plots against U.S. leaders. Submarine commander Thomas Reeves hunts Chinese nuclear missile submarines in the dark waters of the Pacific. And General Zhao Ming of the PLA prepares to escalate to chemical weapons.

The Climax
With American and Chinese forces locked in brutal combat across Taiwan, President Mitchell faces an impossible choice: launch a retaliatory strike that could trigger nuclear war, or watch Taiwan fall. The decision is made for him when China unleashes "Operation Red Sky"-a massive cyber assault that plunges half the United States into darkness.
In a desperate gamble, Mitchell authorizes a precision strike against Chinese military infrastructure while opening secret back-channel negotiations with reformist elements in Beijing.

The Resolution
A military coup in China removes the hardline leadership. General Zhao and his co-conspirators are arrested. A ceasefire is declared, and both nations limp to the negotiating table in Geneva.

The Aftermath
Five years later, the world has been transformed. A new Cyber Security Council governs digital warfare. China has begun political liberalization under new leadership. Taiwan remains free but vigilant. And Jack Morrison, now heading a new intelligence organization, stands ready for whatever shadows tomorrow may bring.
