At first Ellie is thrilled to have Linda as her 'adopted' mother and to be a part of the close, loving Cooper family. But when she and Dan decide to get married, she starts to find her future mother-in-law is just a bit too involved, and suddenly her wedding is turning into something she never even wanted. Is Ellie marrying Dan . . . or his mother? One thing's for sure, before the big day Ellie's going to have to work out who comes first in Dan's affections . . . 'Will send a shiver down the spines of brides everywhere' Daily Mirror'Utterly compulsive' Company
Ellie Black and Dan Cooper are getting married. Ellie believes that by marring Dan she will finally belong to a family. But with that family comes Linda Cooper, a woman Ellie see as someone that Ellie has to compete with. Then a event will happen that will change the whole family, and may end Dan and Ellie's marriage. "The Other Woman" by Jane Green is a great book. Most times, I really don't like books by Ms. Green, but this was great. It show great emotions and wonderfull characterization. It should not be missed.

I loved this book! The characters were real and very true to life when it comes to children and in-laws. It is a great read that is a true page turner! It has a surprise twist mid-way through, which I never saw coming. I have a toddler and it really made me stop and think about what could happen...that's all I will say because I do not want to give it away.

Whether you're single or married, you can relate to what Ellie Black feels throughout the course of this novel. Ellie Black is a single and successful marketing director for a famous Hotel line. She met Dan Cooper four years ago while she was involved with someone else. Fast forward to the present day, and she knows right away Dan is her one true love. Ellie has never been close to her Dad, her Mom died when she was in grade school. She always dreamed of being a part of a big family so of course she is nervous when she goes to meet Dan's family. Ellie is at first enraptured by the attention of her future mother-in-law Linda. But once Linda starts taking over the planning of their wedding, Ellie begins to wonder. Friends play a big role in Ellie and Dan's life. It's notable to see how their friends change when they are single, as compared to when they are married. Ellie discovers she's pregnant. Linda is elated over the prospect of her first grandchild. Ellie can hardly take the relentless phone calls and the increasing number of unannounced drop-in visits. When Linda buys clothes for the baby, Ellie says wait a moment! Dan refuses to get involved with his wife and mother. Ellie and Dan realize how miserable they have become and separate. Separated, Ellie and Dan come to realize how much they mean to one another. Fortunately, Ellie and Linda come to an understanding in their rocky relationship. A well written, fun, emotion-filled, enjoyable read!
The theme of this book is timeless

This book is a must read for anyone who is getting married or is married. When Ellie falls in love with Dan she is deeply in love with him and thrilled to become a member of his close family. Very quickly she finds the mother-in-law , she thought was perfection, to be a very very overbearing force in their lives. Long before Tom is born Ellie is stressed out by in-law strain. Yes the book is santimonious and preachy, but that is point. Jane Green does a fantastic job of creating a character that it one can relate to and ultimately learn from. I look forward to the next Jane Green book.
