i hated reading. i mean, REALLY hated reading. at the suggestion of a friend, i bought ann farris' book, the other side of dyslexia, with no intention of reading it- #1, because i wasn't dyslexic, and #2, like i said, i hated reading. just out of curiosity, i began reading ann's book, and i didn't hate it at all. in fact, i really liked reading it. so much so that i have read and re-read the book several times, cover to cover. go figure. as it turns out, i AM dyslexic. this book has really helped me come to terms with a lot of what dyslexia actually involves, and how it affects my life. it's not all mixing up letters and numbers like we all think! the other side of dyslexia is a great book for people who have dyslexia, for those who don't, and for those of us who hate to read but don't know why. what an incredible resource this book has turned out to be for me, and i hope you find it to be so too.
Learning how to deal with dyslexia through colors

Most books about dyslexia seem to be directed to people that are not dyslexic; they don't seem to realize that most people with dyslexia have problems READING. Ann Farris realized this. She has created a beautiful book that speaks directly to the hearth of dyslexic people. I was able to relate to her work and it has been very helpful in understanding my dyslexia and how to deal with it. It made me realize the power of colors and drawing as a way to express myself and as a way to overcome dyslexia.

Although I am not a dyslexic, after reading Ann Farris' book "The Other Side of Dyslexia" I got a better understanding of the challenges that a person with dyslexia has to go through. In her book, Ann presents a very personal account of how she discovered her condition and invites the reader to join her on her quest as she explores creative methods in dealing with her dyslexia. At the end of each chapter, Ann presents various questions and self-help exercises which are designed to encourage the reader to understand about themselves whether or not they are dyslexic. On each page, Ann shares many personal drawings in various colors which helps to illustrate her mood visually and allow the reader to understand how she is feeling at a particular stage of her journey. This is a good book for anyone who wants to understand more about dyslexia, and I highly recommend it!

While I am not dyslexic, I found this book fascinating and extremely infomative. The author's illustrations are utterly charming. If you are dyslexic or simply want to learn more about this condition, I recommend this book very highly.
