On a cold fall morning in Kemmerer, Wyoming, Carson "Kit" Andrews is walking to his office after a breakfast with two of his oldest friends. A thirteen-year-old boy confronts Carson "Kit" Andrews in front of his office. The young boy asks Kit to find his father, who he has never met and who has no idea he has a son. The boy offers to pay Kit for his services by producing a sock from his jeans pocket and dumping a small pile on coins on the desk.
