4th grade teacher review!!!!

I recently read this book with my 4th grade class and we absolutely loved it!!! My students were immediately engaged from the beginning and were begging to read ahead. From a teacher's point of view, I was able to use numerous reading strategies. This book forced my students to look at different clues and make their predictions about what they thought had happened. The pager clues were our favorite! We could have sat there for hours coming up with different ideas about what the numbers meant. After reading this story, my students proceeded to check out every Carole Marsh Mystery book from the library. They have now started passing the books as they finish to their fellow classmates. All of these stories are Accelerated Reader as well and they are very quick reads that keep my students' attention. I also like that there are many vocabulary words that repeat throughout the series. My 4th graders constantly pick out the words that they learned about while reading The Mystery of the Chicago Dinosaurs. This story led to great discussions and provided my students with information about the city they live in. I can guarentee that any student who reads this book will find it interesting, exciting, and very entertaining. This will definitely be a story I will be using in my teaching for years to come!

Sue at the Field Museum

I live in Chicago and am a member of the Field Museum. My grandson and I first saw Sue when he was about two. He pointed out that it was a, "Tyrannosaurus Rex, Grandma!" Now at eight this adventure was a great read it together event. The only thing that we have not done that the characters in the book did is ride the "L." We look forward to it. The story line is simple, but the twists and turns to get to the conclusion keep the readers interested. The chapters are short enough to be read at bedtime.
