Ideal reference guide of musculoskeletal anatomy.

Dr. Joseph E. Muscolino truly compiled the ultimate Musculoskeletal system anatomy textbook. I esspicially found the Latin and Greek derivation section's to be very helpful in understanding the origins of the muscle names. This author's logic and approach is unmatched.Kudos to Dr. Joseph E. Muscolino!!!

Excellent Resource for Musculoskeletal Information

This book is comprehensive in nature, scrupulous in detail, and the product of an obvious passion for the wealth of information to be found in our musculoskeletal system. As a massage therapist and perpetual student of the human body, I am glad to add this book to my library. It is well organized which makes it easy to reference whether I know the muscle, the bony landmark, or the general anatomical area of the body. Having so much information about an individual muscle in one book makes it easy to enhance or refresh my existing knowledge. I have opened the book just to refresh my knowledge of what an individual muscle looks like and found the illustrations clear. I have used the cross reference to find other muscles that might be adding to an existing muscular problem in a client. I have refreshed my awareness of an individual muscle by using the easy to follow palpation information. And I have added to my knowledge of individual muscle actions when helping a client isolate a muscle's tightness. Every time I have opened the book I have not been overwhelmed by what I do not know but rather come away feeling smarter.

Complete, Clear, Clean and Concise

How wonderfully refreshing it is to find a reference book that is complete, clean, clear and concise in its presentation. Too bad this text wasn't available when I was in massage therapy school. It takes all the dialog surrounding the essentials that bodyworkers need to know about the skeletal muscles and compartmentalizes them all into small, easy to digest bites - snapshots - of related, relevant information. No longer must I wade through paragraphs of lengthy descriptions and explanations to find the precise answer to my question. This text is the only one allowed to share the same shelf with - and has become the twin to - my other most used reference book, Frank Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy. Both are indispensable to me. Bravo, and thank you, Dr. Muscolino!

I'm using it more than Netter's lately. Here is WHY?.

It is an easy to use. I learn something every time I pick it up. This guide can assist anyone with human muscular anatomy, even the layperson. There are many unique aspects in this resource therapists will appreciate including: 1) Multiple sources for cross-referencing, 2) Sections covering relationships to other musculoskeletal structure. 3) Miscellaneous information that is key to understanding the complexity and simplicity of muscle. 4) Obvious but rarely done - use of arrows on the drawings to illustrate ALL actions of each muscle. 5) Also enjoyable are the explicate directions for palpation! The appendices offer valuable category information such as muscle action by group, illustrated drawings of joint actions in motion, reverse actions, and innervation. I have been encouraging my trigger point massage therapy students and to other learners and instructors to buy and use this text. After all, David Simons, MD says anatomy and palpation are the key to solving musculoskeletal pain.

Great Resource!

This book is a great resource on multiple levels. It's easy to use and understand with a wealth of information. I use it regularly as a reference tool in my massage practice as well as for teaching Anatomy & Physiology and Kinesiology. The clear illustrations and palpation instructions far exceed anything else I've seen.Anyone studying, interested in, or working with the musculoskeletal system will find this book to be an excellent addition to their library.
